A human ear cast in bronze, embedded in the asphalt of a street, listens museum-like into the universe, while we become sick and deaf from our own traffic noise. The ear in the asphalt alludes to the fact that it is humans who turn their own nature upside down in order to experience the thrill of high speed with a lot of noise.
We demand that we do not hear our own noise; that we filter it out of our perception like birds probably do.
The bronze ear in the asphalt refers to a confidently hearing humanity.
A series of bronze ears is expertly embedded in the global asphalt jungle. This can be done discreetly or with great fanfare.
